Birth story 1/20/20
I had to be induced at 37 weeks for gestational hypertension. Then during the induction, ended up with preeclampsia which lead to a magnesium drip that basically makes you feel like you have the flu while in labor. You have to be on it 24 hours after birth. Then my epidural failed partially and I felt bad contractions for 10 hours even though I couldn’t feel my legs. Finally was able to push and she ended up getting stuck and had shoulder dystocia. The birth was traumatic. The NICU team had to swoop in. She wasn’t breathing when born from getting stuck in my pelvis. Just happy we got her out and she’s ok. Might need some therapy for her one arm due to the shoulder injury. Then she had jaundice and was in NICU until yesterday due to all that birth trauma. Spent a great day with her, until Saturday night I had an attack that was so bad I was doubling over. Turns out I had gallstones and suddenly I’m getting my gall bladder removed. My mom had to watch my poor 6 day old baby.
She’s beautiful and worth all of it. But what a week.
