What do you think of these?

Question

I’ve had three baby names picked out for awhile. My hubby and I are now pregnant with our first child and I mentioned the names I have liked to my MIL and SIL and they didn’t like them and thought that two of them were absolutely terrible. Am I just setting my kid(s) up to be bullied? The names are
 Hannah Fern
Melvia LaNan (pronounced Mel-va la-nan)
And Larry Joseph 
They are all family names and it makes me sad to think that the names might bring grief to my baby.

And just for some background Hannah Fern is a name my stepmom and dad picked when they first started trying to a baby(bc of her health issues they never did get pregnant), Hannah bc they liked it and Fern after my great grandma. I picked Melvia LaNan after two different grandma’s names and Larry Joe is my dad’s father’s name and I wanted to give the name Joseph after my husband. Idk if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

Larry Joseph and Hannah Fern are good! I personally don't like the other name. I'm honestly not a fan of Fern, but that name would be so special to your step-mom that it's perfect. :)

Hannah Fern is cute, and I also think that Joseph Lawrence would be a cute name that pays tribute to your dad! I'm personally not a huge fan of Melvia, it just makes me think of Mulva from Seinfeld lol. Velma I think would be a cute tribute to that name though because it's so similar, it just swaps two sounds.
It's your baby though, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks! Truth be told, none of the names are so awful that you're setting your baby up to be bullied, imo. It's your decision and your in laws will deal with it

In the end, it's your child. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It's nice that you want to honor family by those names. I say pick the one you feel suits the baby best and run with it. 
My mother did that with my daughter. She always complained about her name. I had her name picked out at 15. (Alexis Nichole) When I had her at 20 that is what I named her. I told her if she didn't like it, she should have had another child that she could decide their name. 
Don't let anyone give you grief over it. I like them all.

Hannah Fern is the only one I don’t think is awful. But I don’t like the name Hannah because it’s so common and boring.
