Second birth shorter?

Is it possible to have a short labor even tho I’m not dilatated until the actual labor starts? 
It’s my second child, I thought I would have had contractions before ..
My first I didn’t have any pre labor contractions, no signs of labor until it actually started and it last for 30h.. so here I am worrying it will be the same long for my second 😫

My first labour was 33 hours long. Second 5 hours! Both times I was only dilated 1 cm before labour started.

A few statistics I’ve read said the second is quicker than the first. My first wasnt even 10 hours from the minute they started my induction.. which is terrifying to think that the second is usually quicker.

My first was a little under 4 hours and my second was 2 hours from the minute they induced me.

Yeah. Dilation doesn’t correlate to how long a labor is once labor gets going. I was in labor (including early and active) for around 2 days. My early labor lasted about a day, active around the same. For my second I was induced but I was only in labor a total of 12 hours.

At least three women I know had much quicker second births. Like “almost not making it to the hospital” fast.

It was definitely a no time to go to the hospital fast.. 😳 I gave birth to my baby in my bedroom
