A doctors appointment as a self pay patient really isn’t that expensive. My family physician, a D.O., only charged me $60 for an office visit. We also have clinics that provide low cost medical services on a sliding scale. One is Adelante. The other is mountain park health. These are specific to AZ but your area may have locations. Also since you just lost coverage you may be eligible for a special enrollment period through the marketplace. I’ve lived without health insurance for many many years and I find its actually more affordable to pay out of pocket rather than paying a premium every month plus a copay plus coinsurance plus meeting my deductible.
