When to feed solids?

Hey mommas! I have a question 
So my baby just turned 3 months but will be 4 months On the 19th of Feb and I just wanted to see what you guys recommend starting my baby on such as maybe baby cereal or baby gerber?? Im at loss specially being a FTM! Thanks in advance!

The AAP and WHO recommend 6 months for solids. Some doctors will say 4-6 months but the official recommendation is 6 months. Also, baby cereal is empty calories and doesn’t have any nutritional value and isn’t actually that good for them! If you do start solids, definitely stick to something that has good nutritional value.

My baby is also 4 months on the 19th. He has a checkup on the 25th so I will wait to see what the doctor says! With my first baby we started ‘solids’ at 4 months. Just started out with some oatmeal. Then every 3 days or so we would do a new food. Maybe sweet potatoes, bananas, applesauce, peas. Then around 6 months we did more baby led weaning and more of a meal rather than just tasting the food.

My daughter is 4 months now. Her doctor said as long as you start slow there's no reason why the baby can't taste solids between 4-6 months. It should not be any form of meal replacement at this point and don't introduce more than one new food a day to make sure they don't have a reaction.  We started her on sweet potatoes as a snack in between afternoon bottle and evening bottle. We put it in a mesh pacifier feeder and she loves it lol. Make sure you consult your doctor ☺️

My 4 monther has abit of rusk soaked and mushed with formula and abit of baby chocolate pudding but only afew spoonfuls, she absolutely loves it and still drinks the same amount of formula - if its baby food pots I only do the egg custard and chocolate pudding at the moment because it turns to liquid as soon as it enters their mouth so theres no choking hazard, the chicken dinners etc are alot thicker so will be waiting until shes 6 months for those x

Our doctor is having us try rice cereal this weekend, just to see where she is at with swallowing. It’s not for any nutritional value, but more as a test to understand if she is ready for other things in the near future.
