Surgery, Recurrent Fetal Loss and New Hope
Last year I was diagnosed with recurrent fetal loss after my 5th miscarriage. While I have PCOS all of my labs came back normal and the doctor said it was possible I would be in the 70% of those diagnosed with recurrent fetal who never find out why they keep having them. However, after my usual examine, he noticed a vaginal septum and suspected I may have a uterine one that could be causing the miscarriages. Before he scheduled the hysteroscopy, he did multiple ultrasounds because I kept getting very large cysts on my ovaries, including a 2in one and wanted to make sure they resolved, or he would want to remove them surgically. Luckily, the week before my hysterectomy with vaginal septoplasty and possible uterine septoplasty the cyst resolved to half the size. During the procedure they did find a uterine septum and were able to remove both septums. As soon as I woke up from surgery in recovery I asked the nurse if they found it and were able to remove it, and when she said yes, I started crying. I was so happy to have hope again. Once I got out of recovery and my husband came in to see me he had the biggest smile and asked, "when can we start trying? I want to put a baby in you". I of course cried some more. We have prayed and prayed for this and just having hope again feels like those prayers have been answered. I am still a higher risk of miscarriage, but we are hoping that I will be able to get pregnant and carry to term.
Has anyone else had a uterine septum removed and had a successful pregnancy afterwards?
Baby dust and hope to my sisters in grief. ❤
