Second time moms: Was the transition to having your first baby or your second baby harder?

I’ve heard mixed feedback. Bestie said baby #2 is was easier, but I’ve also seen a few comments on baby #2 being way harder since you already have your hands full.

You’re definitely busier when you add a  second child but you’re also more relaxed and not so anxious as a parent. Also, it’s much more of a jolt to the system to go from no kids to one kid. Once you have a child, adding one more isn’t really that different.

Going from one to two was pretty easy (mine are 2 1/2 years apart). I was already use to not getting consistent sleep, diaper changes and blow outs, and already so into the “mom role” that adding one more just felt natural. You’re already going out and about doing kid stuff, now you just got an extra one in tow. Baby wearing was my best friend when the second didn’t want to be put down & the first one wanted to move about.

Going from 0 to 1 was a huge adjustment. Going from 1 to 2 was easy. It obviously took some time to get used to, especially for our toddler but once we did it was easy.

Going from one to two was harder in my opinion, but my first 2 are also only 17 months apart so that could be a factor. With just one, you can nap when baby naps and you have all your attention and energy focused on one tiny human, bout once there’s 2 you have to decide you needs you more. I was able to get them both to nap together once a day which allowed me like an hour to myself, that was super helpful.

Number two was harder. Having to go back to two hour feeds, no sleep, anxiety, PPD again, and #2 is a little jerk. When both kids are scream crying, I get anxious, and having to divide and conquer has been harder because the baby needs attention but my first has speech delay and requires a lot of attention..

I have a 2 week old and a 2 year old. It was super hard while the postpartum hormones were going crazy. I felts I guilty for my first and had a lot of anxiety. Now that the hormones are better it feels easier :) We are settling into a routine and now that my toddler is adjusting its way easier!

1 to 2 was the hardest for me. Having to divide your attention. It was hard to give my first attention when I would have to feed my second. Going out in public and shopping was hard with 2 littles.

1 to 2 has been hardest for me, so far. Baby three is only one week old. My first two are just over two years apart, and my second and third are just under 2 years apart. 
My first was such an easy baby, and my second was colicky. I think it just depends on babies!

Going from 1 to 2 was very hard for me. A lot of it was emotional, though. I felt a lot of guilt about upending my first’s life and had a lot of anxiety about how he was dealing with everything on top of how I was dealing with it. And of course going back to the newborn phase of up all night was hard, and the lack of sleep probably didn’t help my emotional state.
