Diaper Blowouts

If your baby has a blowout, do you throw out the outfit he/she is wearing? Or do you just wash it? I have a hard time processing the cleanliness of sticking a poop covered outfit in the washing machine and letting it “wash” in the poopy water. I feel like it would leave poop water residue inside the washer and ruin it and make it stink.
