Pumping without stopping work-ICU nurse
So I have a weird question.. I am EBF my baby and will be heading back to work at the end of April, God willing. I am an ICU nurse and i work 12 hour shifts. I am thinking that I will prob have to pump at least every 4 hours while at work. While I know that everyone at work would be extremely supportive, it’s not always going to be feasible to get three different 20 minute breaks throughout my shift in order to pump due to patient emergencies and such. My question is- has anyone used a hands free pumping bra and a large sweater and carried their pump in a bag and pumped while continuing to work? A lot of our patients are in medically induced comas and i work nights so often times families and administrators wouldn’t be around to give me strange looks lol or I could even do it while sitting at the nurses station and charting I guess. i work with mostly women who I don’t think would really care (except maybe a little teasing 😆). Has anyone done this or some variation of this? I know that there is that super expensive portable pump thing but I don’t want to spend that kind of money. Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, FTM over here haha Thank you!
