What age for crib rail to go down?

￼what age is best for the rails to go down for a toddler bed? 
I put them down when my child was not even 2 yet... which I regret... so we are putting them back up probably will take them down in 1 year.

My cousin didn’t convert her daughters crib into a toddler bed until her daughter started making a habit of getting herself out of her crib around 2 1/2. She figured if her daughter was gonna get out of bed anyway, she might as well make it less dangerous

I switched to a toddler bed when I realized mine could get out of the crib on her own. She was like 2 1/2 or something when it first happened and I switched her right away. It’s different for every kid 🤷‍♀️

I put my son in a toddler bed in December he will ba 2 in March I haven’t had an issue

I don’t know about putting rails down but at a little over 2, I moved my son from his crib into a full size bed. He loves it.
