Nope, not at all. We give money and gifts for close family members for the holidays and their birthday. We celebrate close family birthdays and we typically spend about $300 on them for birthday and a little more on holidays. We can easily afford it. 
We have 5 birthdays coming up next month so we have already ordered some gifts and purchased gift cards for them. It’s not a big deal. I love celebrating close family birthdays.

I mean it depends. If he gave them money we desperately needed then yeah, if not then no

I don’t love it but my husband gives his mom money all the time and even pays for her airfare when she comes to visit from Colombia (split between him and 2 brothers). It annoys me because she’s not poor and has a great pension and few expenses but I get it.
