Baby dark spots

Hello mommies ,

I have a question my baby was a 29 weeker he is now 7m . He was in the NICU for a total of 42 days then he came home after 2 months of being home he started getting dark spots all over his body . The doctor said , is normal , but I can’t help to worry . He will be seeing a dermatologist next month on the 30th. What makes me upset is that a few times at the doctor they nurses are “Omg is it contagious?? is it chicken pot, do we need to close the clinic” I get super upset !!!!! Has any one went through something similar ??? Thank you in advance.

K

Thank you ladies 🤗

And the doctor said it’s normal? You don’t have to be a doctor to be 100% sure that that isn’t normal.

Yeah, if the nurses can't even tell that that isn't chicken pox that's kind of concerning...

Awwww baby hope he’s okay. I have never seen it before. Definitely go see a specialist ASAP. The sooner the better and hopefully they can give you an answer.

You need to go to another pediatrician and get a second opinion.

The dermatologist will be the one to diagnose this, but it's striking me as possibly an extreme case of pigmentary mosaicism. This is a pic of a similar-ish case in a 6 month old girl:If that is what it is, they will likely check for other abnormalities just to be sure, but it's normally just a skin pigment thing, like birthmarks or vitiligo (which this doesn't look like to me. Vitiligo usually are big splotches that develop slowly, not a bunch of little ones quickly).Best of luck! It's probably just skin pigment. 😊

Could also just be melasma. But again, your dermatologist will be able to diagnose this. 😁

Never seen this before so I’d probably head to a specialist 😊 don’t worry mumma all babies are different and people can’t help what they don’t know. When nurses say comments like that I’d educate them so they don’t hurt the next mumma. Our babies are precious x
