Mom-Shaming is Real 🤬

I’m high-risk for being over 35 + I have epilepsy. One medication I take is RARELY used and therefore there’s like zero research on it. I was talking to a coworker with 4 kids recently whom I used to consider a friend and she honestly mom-shamed me when I said that I wouldn’t be breastfeeding because of my medication. She talked to me like I was a child and honestly told me to talk to the Epilepsy Foundation for a second opinion. Girl, I’m not newly diagnosed, I’ve had epilepsy for over 20 years, I’ve done my research. Both MFM and the pediatrician said 👎🏻. She wouldn’t shut up until I told her that the limited clinical studies that have been done resulted in dead lab rats.

I’ve always heard about mom-shaming, but I had no clue that it ACTUALLY happened! Some coworkers told me to report her, but in the end, I decided that I didn’t have the energy for an investigation (even with a screenshot of the conversation) and wrote her an email telling her that her comments were offensive and hurtful (she considers herself Mother Teresa) and that moving forward, keep her opinions regarding my health condition or anything regarding my child to herself. I am only doing what is best for both of our health.

I’m still in absolute shock 3 days after it happened.
