Retained placenta??

I delivered my son 5 days ago and have been having some heavy bleeding off and on and passing some pretty large clots. This has been the largest but I’ve had 3-4 about half this size. Anyone else had this experience??

I had clots this size and larger for about a week or so after birth. It can be normal! As long as you arent soaking a heavy duty pad within an hour, its nothing to worry about. Call your doc if you feel more comfortable tho. I had baseball sized clots for a while.

I was having extremely bad clotting episodes a couple times a week. Filling up a whole pad not only with clots the size of a baseball but also soaking the whole pad or toilet with blood. The docs said go to the hospital if you soak more than 1 pad an hour for 3 consecutive hours. Each time mine stopped after 2 hours so I never went in. They finally scheduled an ultrasound to check for retained placenta and that’s what it was. I’d encourage you to be persistent in checking with your doctor and maybe asking for an ultrasound if you think ti truly may be that.

I’ve had 2 clots this size about 2 weeks after I delivered and yes it’s the placenta (said my OB). It’s a good thing you passed them out!
