Is emergenc-C ok to take if pregnant?

Just found out I was pregnant yesterday and woke up this morning with a sore throat. Is emergen-C (powder) ok to take?

Not sure why someone said it’s not, but it’s definitely okay (at least according to my doctor). It was on my list of approved things from my obgyn. I took it a lot during my pregnancy with my son. Here’s directly from the PDF from my doctor’s office website:
COLDS/CONGESTION/COUGH/SORE THROAT –
Most are viral and do not require antibiotics. The best treatment is rest and fluids. Call if you have a fever of 101 degrees or greater. For symptom relief, many common products can be used. Avoid products with aspirin or alcohol in them. You can use Allegra, Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec, Zicam, Emergen-C, ChlorTrimenton, Vicks Vaporub, Singular, Atrovert (Rx only), Mucinex, Flonase, NasalCrom, Saline rinses and Neti-pots may relieve nasal congestion. Robitussin with expectorant (non- drowsy) or cough drops, salt water gargles are ok to use.
HERBAL REMEDIES – Most are untested in pregnancy. It is best to avoid those remedies which have unknown effects. Zinc glycine lozenges, zinc tablets have no data to show they are beneficial but there has been no harm shown either. Use Echinacea with caution.

If you’re already taking prenatal vitamins, there’s no reason to take emergen-c. If you look at the ingredients it’s just a bunch of vitamins, which you’re already getting a lot of in your prenatals. The reason why people may say no to products like this while pregnant, as well as other supplements and vitamins, is because it is possible to get too much of certain vitamins causing adverse affects. It’s not unsafe to take in itself, but it would be something to discuss with your doctor because you don’t want to over do it on certain vitamins. Especially when all these prenatals already have well over 100%+ of your daily values.
