Same exact thing happened at my scan yesterday. My dr advised me to please stay off of Google. It’s pretty common really and actually not even considered a soft marker for a lot of drs. I have another ultrasound because my babes heart dropped but the EIF is not a definite sign of downs. Don’t worry mama.
Anatomy Scan EIF
I just got results for my anatomy scan, doctor said everything looked good except for one bright spot by the heart called an EIF. She didn’t seem concerned at all and didn’t suggest any further testing. After I got home I googled it and saw it could be a soft marker for Down Syndrome and now I am scared! I didn’t get any of the genetic testing done but now I kind of wish I would have. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I’m trying not to worry but I can’t help it 😭

Yeah. Lol. I definitely understand! My dr says about 1/20 pregnancies. So it’s pretty common. Also said it has no effect what so ever on the functionality of the heart.

Thank you! I knew I shouldn’t have googled 🙈🙉 Doctor just seemed so nonchalant about it that I got curious. I’ll start trying to relax more haha!

I had the same thing with my anatomy ultrasound. In some practices, it's not even considered a soft marker anymore. Because our technology is better and better, it picks up on more including the EIF, which is becoming more and more common. I opted not to get further genetic testing, my OB did not recommend it since it was the only finding.

Same thing is happening to me except they found a EIF and CP cyst in his brain. Both do not cause any health issues and should go away. My dr told me not to worry but you can’t help it. She said it’s pretty common to find these things and for them to go away when there are no other physical markers.

She’s not going to check up on it down the road at all? And thank you. Hopefully it fades and the cysts are gone when I go in. Feels like it’s been forever since I found out but it’s only been a little over a week. So 3 more to go and I’ll be able to see if it’s gone. Praying your pregnancy goes smoothly from here on out.

Also I had the genetic testing done before hand in the beginning and she said I’m low risk so the chance of this just being what it is and going away is high she said.
