Giving my newborn a bath???

He’s 9 days old and Idk how to give him a bath lol sounds stupid but do I use soap? I’m scared gonna have a reaction. I only have Johnson and Johnson

You can just put him in warm water and wipe him down. No need for soap. I don’t think I did any more than a wet wipe bath with either of mine until they were like 2 months old. 😂
I mean, they don’t do much to get dirty at that stage.

Little soap on the washcloth and wash his body and make sure you wash face first with no soap then apply soap on cloth for rest of his body. If he has his cord still don’t submerge him just lay him on the floor on a towel and keep half covered while washing the other half. Put his lotion on, use the brush they sent home from hospital for his head to make sure he doesn’t get dry scalp and tend to his circimsision and his cord after you dry him.

I’ve mostly been just doing warm water and a baby wash cloth with my 4 week old. I do use just a tiny amount of the johnsons baby wash to clean her bottom really well.

Unpopular opinion, but I never used a washcloth. I still don’t. I use soap on my hands to bathe my son. He’s 7 months now.

You can use soap.  If he's lost his umbilical cord you can do an actual bath.  I prefer dove soap to johnson and johnson because my kids have very sensitive skin.  My first had a reaction to johnson and johnson but it wasn't bad.  Just a rash.  I used the hospital tub for baths then the sink when they outgrow that.   Just be careful when you take them out.  Wet babies are very slippery!
