UTI???

Question

I went to the doctor and they took a sample swab from my vagina (I’m pregnant) and I have a UTI. Just wondering how do they know? Is there bacteria that would show up on the swab? Also what else can they see from a swab from the Vagina? I’m curious

A UTI is normally doagnosed from a urine sample. So I have no idea what they were testing.

Did you do a urine sample when you first went in? My ob always did a dip before I even saw her... it checked for sugar, protein and white blood cells...

Usually they pick it up by urine but it’s also bacteria floating around

Normally for a uti they just do a urine test so that's abit odd, Sounds like they were testing for something else and sounds like you may be a little worried of what they'll find.
