The Presidents Age

A

Not trying to get into actual politics here about candidates. But I've noticed, a lot of the people running for president are so old. Even the current president of the US, he's 73. A presidential term is 4-8 years. Why are we betting on old people? Not to be morbid but how do we know they'll be here in 4-8 years and how do we know they're still mentally capable of being leader of the free world? I can't imagine my grandfather running this country. I know there's a minimum age to be president which is 35. Why not put a maximum age on who can be president? Of course you can't judge someones ability based on age and older people are usually wiser and have more experience to draw from but if there's a minimum, why not have a maximum.

I’m not really a fan of ageism. If a candidate feels able to run, the choice should be left to the electorate.

"Leader of the free world" sounds like some WestWorld type of bullshit lol i love the series btw People are living for longer, and with quality. The idea that old people are weak and incapable should really be gone with.

If they are healthy and that’s what the people want then what does it matter?

I mean, at the end of the day I support dying with dignity and all, but to voluntarily stress yourself out to be president is not my cup of tea🤷🏻‍♀️ just saying

Because who becomes president is restricted by what voters want. Why limit voter choice?

A 35 year old could have a heart attack or a stroke and drop dead, as could an 80 year old. Unless we have full medical histories, diets, exercise/activity logs, we have no idea what to expect.

You must know many unhealthy people because how you know three...I know NONE. So if you're going off people you know,I can say the same about people I know. Anecdotes are not facts and the fact remains older people are more at risk.

Not really. I have a cousin how had a heart attack at 18, a friend with 17 pulmonary embolisms at 20, I know a woman who is 37 and had a stroke and aneurism. It’s far more likely than you’re led to believe.

The LIKELYHOOD of one happening over the other is night and day though.

No one knows how long they will live, age doesn’t matter. My dad was 37 by one day when he passed. My great grandma passed last week and she was 92. She was very clear and smart tell about a year ago when she started having some problems. The president has some of the best doctors in the country and get check out for health. I against ageism. I don’t see how a cop on how old the president could be as a good idea.

Age really shouldn’t be a factor unless they’re literally on their death bed and can hardly function, but then I don’t think they’d be running for President at that point anyways. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Because you can die any time. At any age.

I mentioned this several times this election term...I won't be voting for someone in the brink of kicking the bucket with multiple heart attacks under their belt. I know what it's like to have a chronic condition and always feel tired and in pain and run down..I wouldn't want anyone in charge of the US to be anywhere near that state of health. It's hard to keep a clear head when your health isnt optimal.
