Counting baby kicks?

Question

My midwife wants me to start counting my baby’s kicks. But I find they are super inconsistent. Does anyone have a system for this?
I know it’s good to know your baby’s movements in case they stop moving as they usually do. But so far - I see no pattern.

How far along are you?  They typically don’t start that until you’re 28 weeks.

Docs don't usually recommend you to count kicks until your third trimester. If you're less than 28 weeks, they will still be inconsistent

There’s an app called Baby Kicks you could download and use to track.

There is a charity called count the kicks who sell little bracelets with markers from 1-10. Everytime you feel a kick you move the marker. I found this super helpful during my first pregnancy.
