So I finally got my appointment with the fertility clinic, we’re 14 months ttc.

I’m turning 24 and he’s turning 27 this year, so it was a little disconcerting we weren’t getting pregnant. I’m also on 1700mg of metformin for suspected pcos even though I get my period regularly and ovulate regularly. Anyways, so I went the consultation and everything was great. I set up my testing for the evaluation for my eggs, a saline ultrasound and blood work. So I go to get my blood taken in the clinic and I have issues with needles due to my bad experiences I’ve had previous, as well as I have horrible Veins.

So usually the nurses I get, to make it easier on all of us, use a butterfly needle and it works fine every time. So this lady, instantly I notice is very rough in her attitude and proceeds to tell me that whomever has taken my blood before clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing and they shouldn’t be using a butterfly needle with me. So at this point, I have a faith in her. She works in a fertility clinic so she clearly does blood work all day and maybe she’s right, maybe she knows what she’s doing. WRONG. So I was sitting up on the chair with my head back comfortable. Usually they try my right arm and successful but after slapping my arm and pinching at my vein for more than two minutes she tells me to give her my left arm. So I hesitatingly give her my left arm, close my eyes and begin my breathing techniques. I did warn her ahead of time that I have been known to faint and possibly vomit but I’d let her know when I starting feeling unwell. So she says to me that she’ll have to poke me a few times because I have horrible veins. I felt the initial pinch but then felt burning and I asked her if it’s normal and she said she must have missed the vein.

So after this, poking around a few more times she gets the needle in and starts taking blood. I’m not looking at this point and know that there will be around 10 large viles they’re taking so i continue to breathe. But before I know it, I pass out for about 30 seconds and come to to her loudly scorning me for not telling her I wasn’t feeling well. I profusely apologized because I usually have a warning but this time i had no time to even speak. She continues to tell me that if I would have waited... yup... waited, to pass out then the job would have been done. I told her I felt like I was going to puke, she gave me orange juice all well completely complaining how annoying it was that she’d now how to find another vein and how she was almost finished.

At this time the receptionist came back to ask what was going on and the nurse said to her, ‘you should have been here with her she passed out and didn’t tell me she was going to. She didn’t want to lay down.’ And continued on bitching about me while I’m still slowly sipping on the orange juice and feeling really sick. So the receptionist was really nice, told me to stop apologizing and asked if I wanted to hold her hand. I actually really appreciated this because at this point I almost told the nurse to stop and I’d get the rest of the viles done by someone else. The nurse proceeds to go back to my right arm and in one try gets vein. While still complaining about me and how i was basically doing it to myself because I quote ‘she already had it in her head before she sat down’.

I was just told I will have to get my blood taken 5 more times within a span of two weeks to monitor my cycles and I’m terrified. I’ve never been so humiliated and embarrassed at how I was treated. I didn’t want to complain as I will be going to that clinic a lot.

My fiancé was so upset and wanted to call an complain But I’m such a baby and don’t want to cause an uproar.

Have you guys ever had someone do that when taking your blood or had really bad experience??
