I’m 37. Last year, I was pregnant, and due to my age, we elected for screening. It came back positive for Downs. We were told the test is over 90% accurate for trisomy testing. We went ahead with the CVS by the next week (right around 12 weeks), where they found a high NT during the US preceding the procedure. Those tests came back positive, and we talked quite a bit about quality of life for that child. We decided to not continue that pregnancy. We found out after Christmas that I was pregnant again. We just had our screening done at 10 weeks, which came back negative for the trisomy trio, but there was a positive screen (42%) for Klinefelter’s (XXY). We again elected to proceed with a CVS to diagnosis, which confirmed yesterday that the baby does have KS. We talked to two genetic counselors, my OB, and did a bunch of research already to be as informed as possible. My husband and I decided that this is not scary or impossible, and that our son will have every chance with this early diagnosis of having a happy, healthy and independent life. That’s all we can ask for. For us, this knowledge helps us be prepared to be the best parents we can - even before he is here.
12w ultrasound + bloodwork = odds?
I am 39 and a little concerned about high odds of some kind of trissomy.
Have my US on Monday 24th...
Can you share your age, results and decision to do amnio or NIPTs?
Thanks
