12w ultrasound + bloodwork = odds?

Noemi • Mom of an only son, Dec 2015 Rainbow Boy TTC 2nd 6th Pregnancy - Due on Sep 5th 2020

I am 39 and a little concerned about high odds of some kind of trissomy.

Have my US on Monday 24th...

Can you share your age, results and decision to do amnio or NIPTs?

Thanks

I’m 37. Last year, I was pregnant, and due to my age, we elected for screening. It came back positive for Downs. We were told the test is over 90% accurate for trisomy testing. We went ahead with the CVS by the next week (right around 12 weeks), where they found a high NT during the US preceding the procedure. Those tests came back positive, and we talked quite a bit about quality of life for that child. We decided to not continue that pregnancy. We found out after Christmas that I was pregnant again. We just had our screening done at 10 weeks, which came back negative for the trisomy trio, but there was a positive screen (42%) for Klinefelter’s (XXY). We again elected to proceed with a CVS to diagnosis, which confirmed yesterday that the baby does have KS. We talked to two genetic counselors, my OB, and did a bunch of research already to be as informed as possible. My husband and I decided that this is not scary or impossible, and that our son will have every chance with this early diagnosis of having a happy, healthy and independent life. That’s all we can ask for. For us, this knowledge helps us be prepared to be the best parents we can - even before he is here.

I’m 37 did an early test and came up positive. They gave me chances of 1:280 so the genetic specials suggested we do further testing. We choose NIPT bec I can’t take the chances with the other tests (too invasive). We decided to that whatever is the outcome we will keep the baby, bec we believe that God gives us what we can handle. And even though they gave us the chances of 1:280 we were holding on to that hope. We prayed and asked our church to pray for us. Got our results after a week and its negative. I know it’s stressful. But I honestly believe that God always has a plan. So Trust HIS process.

Almost 37 and we did chromosomal testing on 2 recent pregnancies. 1 baby was a second trimester loss at 14 weeks to a cord defect in May. Testing had come back totally clear. Currently 29wks pregnant by surprise with another baby. Also had testing done that came back clear. Due to my age and a close cousin losing her daughter at 20 wks to Trisomy 18 we decided to do the testing. Second pregnancy we knew that we had to know if it was not something compatible with life. We would carry the pregnancy either way, but needed our hearts to be prepared either way.

Just turned 40 last week. 25+3 weeks, 5th child and 6th pregnancy. I had my first miscarriage with my very first pregnancy and thankfully all others have been fine. I did the NIPT test and all results came back great with no issues. Both NIPT and ultrasounds have come back with a healthy baby girl. :)

Just had my results back! 1 in 1665 of having 21 Trisomy 😅Considering my age, still considering the NIPT 😉

I’m 40 also waiting on testing results. The statistics can be scary at an older age but I’m thankful for the testing that provides knowledge and insight

35 nipt 85% for Down syndrome. Amniocentesis confirmed it . 😟 I decided not to continue the pregnancy. 36 pregnant again. Went it for 10 week ultrasound & my baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. That’s some karma for my ass huh 😔That’s my story it’s not the best but it’s mine. I wish you a happy & healthy pregnancy ❤️❤️

I am 39 years old , same fears as yours. Last year my first pregnancy had abnormal NIPT and did cvs, based on the results we terminated the pregnancy. This year, i did the NIPT and came back low risk. So i’m skipping amnio . This will be my first child.
