Spitting up... so stressed help..

Fancymg33

My 5 week old was born at 35 weeks on Jan 22nd and original due date was Feb 22nd but due to preeclampsia, I was induced.

We just left the hospital and found out that he has been constipated and has lots of trapped gas seen on an X-ray. I am breast feeding and supplementing with similac prosensitive ready to eat liquid formula. I am overwhelmed and stressed because he spits up during and after feedings and it seems to be a lot. He had a sonogram to see if his pyloric muscle is too thick and causing spit up, but that came back normal. Our pediatrician has suggested we try Simlac for spit up formula (powder). He was diagnosed with GERD today at the hospital and was prescribed suppositories and Pepcid for acid reflux and constipation.

Please provide advice or suggestions if you have had similar problems with your baby spitting up and acid reflux. I cut out spicy food and will be cutting out dairy as suggested by the nurse at the hospital. My baby is gaining weight. He weighs 10 lbs and at birth was 7 lbs which I am so glad.

My baby constant grunts while sleeping and awake. He sometimes will be sleeping and wake up with screaming pain. 😢😩

I am a FTM, and I can stay up and pump, change diapers and adjust to everything that comes with being a mother but seeing my baby in pain and the spit ups is really getting to me. Ive tried gripe water, chamomile tea, massages with baby oil on the belly....

I almost afraid to try powder formula.. bc the poor child has been through so many changes already and has had multiple symptoms for reflux, constipation, etc. I don’t want to make it worse. Help! 😩
