At 1am on 2/26/2020 @ 39+3(which also happens to be my grandmothers birth as well... she passed away when I was 14 or so) my water broke. I felt a pop on my lower abdomen as baby was stretching. Then I felt the fluid leaking out. Checked in the toilet after waddling and leaking my way there the color and it was cloudy/clear. It was the amniotic fluid.
I wasnt getting contractions right away. Those started about 20 minutes after my water broke! Then they were a 3/4 out of 10 on the pain scale and coming every 10-12 minutes lasting 1 minute. Got husband alerted (this jerk went drinking some and then to the casino knowing full well labor could start any time but his reasoning? He had time because I discussed induction with my OB and was just waiting for a date🙄...)
Teach him!! So were both already tiredness got his mom over to watch the babies (3.5 and almost 2) and off we went. Baby kept having DCELLS when contraction were hitting so they kept moving me to my right side, left side, back, etc. I had gotten the epidural.. of course.. no way was I gonna feel that pain when I had options... anyway, I ended up needing zofran for nausea and epinephrine due to my blood pressure starting to drop and me feeling weak. So my contractions kept slowing down so they started pitocin at a 1 and he was tolerating then ok... then would DCELL then we would move... and bam. DCELL again. Cervix just wasnt thinning out past 9cm... they kept feeling a lip that was preventing baby from descending further plus my contractions were slowing down everytime they turned the pitocin off. They tried pitocin at a 2 this time... and ended up have a co traction with lots of high peaks for 8+ minutes and caused babys heart beat to severely DCELL. That scared the life outta me. I started to cry and they all rushed in, moved me everywhere again, then out an internal monitor and a fluid replacement cath into my uterus to help with the umbilical cord and possible pressure that was being put on it. Didnt work
Turned pitocin back to 1. Just waited for baby to decide what he wanted.
440 and FINALLY. Fully thinned and dilated to a 10. Dr. Gets there at about 5pm.. we start pushing and baby boy was born at 520pm!! 7lbs14.7oz 18.5 inches long!
The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck which explains his heart rate dipping every contraction. I'm so unbelievably glad he turned out ok and is earth side safe and healthy and oh so calm. My baby boy is a huge change from my baby girls! Congrats to anyone else who has given birth!
