Cord blood banking to do or not?

My husband and I have been thinking about doing cord blood banking for our first born. But we're not sure if its a good ideal or not. Any insight will help. 
 Cord blood comes from the human umbilical cord, a source of stem cell

I would suggest not cutting the cord right Away I really wanted to bank my baby's cord blood but it's way to expensive for me. Fun fact 1/3 of your baby's blood is still in the cord after birth so I'm gonna have them hold off on cutting the cord until the cord is done pulsing. That way my baby can have all the blood back and there is nothing left to bank. But that's just apart of my birth plan.😊

We spoke with my doctor about this pretty in depth.  Long story short, she said she highly recommends donating it.  There is so much available and she said that if our child ever needed this blood then the chance of it being available is so high because so many women are choosing to donate it.  I really hope it helps a child in need!!

Nope. We do delayed cord claiming. Baby gets all the blood and there are far greater benifits to that than banking blood.

It only helps other siblings not the baby its collected from. I don't plan on doing it because I won't be having anymore kids.

Don't you have to pay to do it? I find that weird as you are potentially saving someones life and giving it to the hospital so it should be free, or am I missing something? I'm in the UK and if I get the chance I will definitely do it - I won't need it after giving birth so someone else can out it to good use
