Cytotec?

I'm 40+1 weeks and my doctor keeps pushing to induce me and wants to use Cytotec. From what I've read it isn't even made for inducing labor and the risks outweigh the benefits. I'm planning on putting induction off until necessary as I am progressing farely well (2cm and at least 80% thinned) and hope to go into labor naturally but my doctor goes out of town on the 4th so I feel like he's pushing it a bit more.
Have any of you been induced with Cytotec? What was your experience?

If you don’t want to be induced then don’t do it.

ACOG doesn’t recommend inducing women unless there is a medical need. Labor starting on its own results in better outcomes for mother and baby. You’re more likely to need other interventions if you are induced. Most first time moms go 41+4 on average.

It honestly depends on your body. I was just induced and it took 48 hours and rounds of cydotec to do anything. They broke my water at 4cm. I then was on pitocin for 7 hours it was hell !

You really don't have to get induced if you don't want to. And like you've said, you're progressing fine on your own :) Good luck mama!

If you don’t want to be induced and your dr only reason is because he is going out of town then DONT GET INDUCED lol. Cytotec is not to induce labor. It’s just used to soften the cervix. With my first baby I had it in bold in my birth plan that the use of cytotec was not permitted. I ended up in a c-section because of high BP and he was breech... this time around I am unable to use any type of cervix softening medicine due to the risk of it also softening my c-section scar on my uterus which can cause a rupture. I don’t recommend it for anyone (I’m also a nurse) and please please don’t get induced unless there is a true true reason to!

I was and I only needed 1/4 of a pill and no pitocin! 
I was scared for it too but my whole induction process was like 17 hours from start to birth (wasn’t dialated or effaced and it was my first back in 10/18)

I was induced with Cytotec and it was absolutely amazing. My doctor told me that she’s induced about 8000 times and she has only needed to do a csection as a result of the Cytotec once. My doctor is very research driven as well. 
My birth story: Went in on 2/24 due to hypertension and low amniotic fluid. Was sent from the office and Cytotec was inserted for the first time around 3:30pm. I was 1cm and thick. At 7:30pm, another was inserted and I was 1cm and 50%. I was “contracting” but it was just like intense Braxton Hicks and I was doing well. They really didn’t hurt. At 12am, I was 1cm and 50% and the third dose was administered. We had a plan to call the on call once that pill wore off at 4-4:30am for further instruction. Sounds like I’m not progressing, right? 1:30-2am rolled around and I started contracting in my lower abdomen and my hips killed me. The TOCO wasn’t picking up my contractions either. I went to use the restroom. At 2:20am, I heard and felt a huge POP and the contraction I was having grew 100 times in intensity. It was my water breaking (nurse told me it was my baby moving 😂). I was checked again and I was only a 3-3.5. The nurse left the room shortly after at 2:45-2:50. We were right next to the nurses station. I called the nurse’s station right after she walked out and needed to push. She checked me again and ended up not moving her hand until the doctor and other nurses came in because my baby was on her way. At 3:07am, I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl just as the doctor walked in to catch her.
