3 week old eating too much?

I upped her formula to 3 ounces about one week ago and now she's acting like she is hungry still after her bottle. I've gave her 4 ounces a few times to see if it helps but I also dont want to feed her too much. And 4 ounces seems like a lot at 3 weeks old. Is anyone else's baby eating that much sometimes? We have an appt with her dr on thursday so I will see what he says then but was curious on how many ounces everyone's baby(babies) were eating at this age

My baby is only 12 days old and has been taking 4 oz since 2 or 3 days ago. She was 10lb 10oz at birth so she’s a chunk. If your baby is taking it and not spitting up an unusual amount then it’s fine. Babies stop when they’re full

My little one is 2 weeks old today and we recently (within the last day or two) been trying out 3oz per feeding. However, along with the increase we have been letting her go more than 2 hours between daytime feedings. Essentially, she is getting an extra feeding every two feedings if that makes sense. Sometimes she takes all 3oz easily at one time and others she only takes an oz or two and will take the remainder within an hour of when I started the feed.

Babies like to suck. Usually nb nipples are made to be slow dripping so they can get more sucking time. Check and see if yours is fast dripping or slow dripping. You could also try offering a pacifier after to see if it’s milk she wants or just needs to suck some more

My 3 week old eats 4 oz every 3 hours. Occasionally 5. Doing ok except starting to get pretty gassy.

We just upped our three week old to four ounces also. She sometimes drinks it all. Sometimes does 3.5. Otherwise she was hungry every two hours. It has helped. Today she has eaten so much!!! Must be a growth spurt!

pace feeding method helps too! babe will get less air and register a full feeling when they should. it could help.

My baby eats that much. It balances out. Sometimes she eats 4.5 ounces, sometimes 2. She is 4 weeks. They go through growth spurts at 3 and 6 weeks so she is probably putting on weight and height

When we went to our 1 month check up, our ped wanted us to up her feedings to 4 ounces every 3 hours and when she wakes up at night. She didn’t have the weight gain her ped wanted and said it’s ok to up it. My baby takes it well so we do 4 ounces and started that at 4 weeks old!

My 3 week old eats anywhere from 1 1/2 oz to 4 oz depending on how hungry she is at a feeding or how recently she ate. She normally eats every 3 hrs but sometimes it will be every hour. I think it just depends on your baby.

No worries momma! My 1 week old (TODAY) is drinking 2 oz of formula every 2-3 hours & she sometimes STILL stays hungry lol. The doctor told us it’s okay for them to eat that much as long as they are burped well after & closely monitored for any spit ups :).
