Do I need to call our doctor?

My 4 day old seems to cough which starts by like a choking sound but then just goes into a cough sometimes when she drinks it scares me a lot! Not sure if it’s normal or if something is wrong

Are you breastfeeding/feeding when this happens? Is it after? Sounds like it could be reflux or too much milk intake ar once

My baby does the same! I think it’s cause my let down is fast so she sometimes chokes while breastfeeding. I would just be concerned if she is coughing at other times of the day and if she has other symptoms (runny nose, fever, loss of appetite, etc).

Do you breastfeed?  You could have a quick let down.  When my milk lets down too fast (if she's gone longer than normal between feedings) she tends to choke a little and cough.

My little one does something similar but it is always when I am bottle feeding her and not using a slow flow nipple so I attribute it to her getting a stronger flow than what she’s used to getting. I always respond with stopping the feeding and getting her to give me a good burp. It typically clears it up. I’m a FTM so idk if what I’m doing is right but she doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
