Low placenta in early pregnancy??

When I was getting my sonogram the nurse mentioned the placenta was low and said "it isn't good" but didn't explain why. My mind was all over the place and I forgot to ask what exactly it meant and when I Google it all that pops up is low placenta when giving birth.. Can someone please help me understand what exactly is up with the low placenta in early pregnancy?

So, the placenta is attached to the uterine wall and is where it is until birth. It just means that they will have to monitor you closely when it gets closer to baby time and a cesarian might be necessary.
