Natural, d&c or medicated MC?

I just found out we had a missed miscarriage at about 7 weeks😔 There was only a gestational and yolk sac. Now we have to decide which way we’d like to MC- naturally at home, d&c or medication induced at home. 
We are in the US, I’m having such a difficult  time deciding. Emotionally we’re alright, just want the process to be over with. I’m feeling really anxious about it ❤️
I’ve read a MC at home can feel like period cramps or intense labor contractions. Those are two very different things which is why I’m having such a hard time deciding.

I did the pills at home and SO glad I did. I wanted to process at home with my husband. The physical experience was not bad. The d and c had more risks and I didn't want my baby to be treated like medical waste. When the sac came out I shrouded it in white cloth and my husband and I grieved together and cremated our baby in our firepit and kept the ashes.

I had a DC and I’m very glad I chose this method. It was painless and the bleeding afterwards was minimal. I didn’t even need to take any Tylenol afterwards. My friend has had 3 miscarriages - 1 DC, 1 natural and 1 induced with a pill. She said that the surgery was the least painful with the quickest recovery but that the natural was more emotional closure. The pill was most painful for her and said that the cramps were more like labor than a period. If you have surgery you can also request genetic testing and it’s easier because you don’t have anything to do with the “sample”. If you pass the baby at home and want a genetic test you have to bring it into your doctors office. I personally wouldn’t be able to do that. I had genetic testing done and I got a lot of closure emotionally knowing that the baby I miscarried had trisomy 12 and was incompatible with life.

I was about 12 weeks when I found out my baby stoped growing at 8 weeks. I ended up choosing to do it at home because I was told it would be like period cramps. I do tend to have pretty painful period cramps but I make it through them. 
It was intense labor contractions for me and it was honestly scary for a while. I sat in my tub for 7 hours and passed clots and tissue. At the beginning. I sat in warm water to help the contractions. I did black out on the toilet in the beginning as well for a minute but I made it through. I ended up making it to my OB at the end of it for Vicodin and didn’t end up using it because by the time I could even get myself up to go to the doctor, it was ending and manageable pain. If that’s the worst of the worst possible scenarios, think about if you can make it through that and then decide. I’d probably do it again even though it was excruciating and terrifying. But I was happy to be at home and not have someone scraping my insides out.
That was my experience and I want you to know because I tried doing research to decide and no one talked about how it really was. Or they didn’t have the experience that I did. 
I’m so sorry for your loss and I know saying that doesn’t make it any better, but you are strong and you will make it through this no matter what you choose. I wish the absolute best for you.

I have had two D&C’s. I tried the pills at home before the first one but they did not work for me. I was 11 weeks pregnant. The D&C ended up being easy, painless, and I can only imagine less traumatizing than actually seeing the baby be passed at home. But I haven’t gone through it at home so I can’t truly speak to that experience. I would chose a D&C again if I ever had another loss. Only downside was the cost.

I’ve had a natural one at home at 9 weeks (measuring 7 weeks), and it was like a very heavy period but with some intense cramping and huge clots, but only really for a day. 
And I had a D&C at almost 10 weeks because my body didn’t start the process naturally (also measuring 7 weeks). It was fast, the procedure was painless because of anesthesia, but the day after was much like the first day with my natural miscarriage. Lots of bleeding and big clots.
Recovery for both was more or less the same in the end, for me it was just that I didn’t want to wait any longer for my body to do what was inevitable, and I also had a toddler to care for so I didn’t want it to happen when I was alone with her etc.

I had a D&C a couple weeks ago as I had a missed miscarriage at 6wks. After researching, I decided to do that. Personally I wanted to have it done asap so I could move on physically and emotionally. I did not want to be in a situation where my body started the process at work or while at home with my toddler or anywhere inconvienent. They say sometimes you may not pass everything on your own and end up needing the procedure anyway. The procedure itself was quick and I felt fine after. Just rest for a couple days after. I had very minimal cramping and a day of bleeding slightly then some spotting a week later. Now im waiting for my period to come back so i can ttc in the near future. Im sorry you are going through this. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. This was the best decision for me. I was able to schedule within 2 days so it workd out well.

I opted for the ￼pill for my first and ended up in the hospital due to hemorrhaging. Lost a lot of blood and took a good month to recover. I was 6 weeks. 
My second miscarriage, I was pregnant with twins and eight weeks. I had a D&C. Painless, very little to no bleeding at all, and recovery was next to nothing physically. I’ve also went naturally but was not far along at all.  It was more of a period like bleed.  Emotionally, I was a wreck. I didn’t know what to expect and feared hemorrhaging again. Because I wasn’t that far along, a D&C wasn’t an option￼￼￼￼￼. 
Everyone tolerates each differently.

At 7 weeks it will likely feel stronger than period cramps. I have been through 3 natural at home and for me that's the best choice. I just cant imagine having a D&C. I had to take misoprostol for my other miscarriage (medicated at home) and that one I had full blown contractions and was far more intense (I was also further along than the other miscarriages so a bit more painful anyway I think). For me a D&C would still be a last resort. I am SO sorry you are going through this. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

We opted for d&c, as wanted it sorted and not have to go through the emotional bit of passing it at home.
Unfortunately it started to come away naturally, the night before my d&c. 3 days later I was having bad contractions and ended up in a&e in the night and in the end admitted to hosptial for 2 more nights.
My body didnt handle passing it well, but then my body never does anything simple 🙄
But have heard of many others whom it was no trouble and over quickly though, so mine is a rare bad experience.

Mc at 6 weeks and walking around target for a heating pad i forsure looked like i was struggling. I have a high pain tolerance so they just felt like intense period cramps but i think they were more mild contractions. I would say do natural if you have the choice because its your bodies natural job but stock up in a heating pad and extra long pads
