My sons birthmark

Hello,

I just need some opinions or reassurance that I am thinking about doing the right thing. My son has a birthmark on his face right under his eye it seems to be getting bigger and darker with the months. We took him to a pediatric dermatologist when we noticed it and next month he has a check up to see the growth. At the first app we talked about removing it now that he’s young and won’t remember. I had a similar birthmark and removed it when I was 18. I was teased a lot and it affected my self esteem and I don’t want that for him I rather take care of it now. Even family makes comments about it and it gets to us although we try to be strong. I feel like I am making the right decision but am also just scared.
