Can I hear heartbeat at 8 weeks?

Question

My first appointment is in two days- I’ll be exactly 8 weeks. I heard that at the first appointment they don’t always do ultrasounds or listen for a heartbeat and I know different doctors vary in this. I am going to ask my doctor if she can check for one anyway because I’ve already had two miscarriages. Just wondering will the heart be able to hear at 8 weeks or is that not far enough along?

It’s too early to hear on a Doppler but you could definitely see the flicker on ultrasound and probably hear

I could see it at 8 weeks, but couldn’t hear it in the ultrasound. I did hear it on the Doppler when I got into the doctor’s office after the sonogram.

At my appointment I just got to see it and they let me know what it was

They would probably have to do an ultrasound to hear it at that point.. too little to pick up on a doppler, I believe. 
If they do an ultrasound, you’ll see/hear the heartbeat. We did :)

Yes you should be able to see/hear a heartbeat between 6-7 weeks
