Swaddling transition?

Question

When are you deciding to end the swaddling? And how do you plan on doing it?

Answer

We stopped cold turkey at 8 weeks. It’s what is recommended by Dr. Moon of the AAP who studies infant deaths. At that age a baby’s likelihood of rolling increases significantly. We choose not to chance it. She did really well with the transition and didn’t skip a beat with sleep. I sleep better knowing she is safe and not worrying about her spontaneously rolling for the first time while I sleep.

I will stop around the time she starts to turn over, which is different for each. She has a bad startle reflex so it's too soon for us, hopefully that stops later. 
I plan to loosen the swaddle more and more to see how she responds. Then remove completely. I've seen these full suits that may help, can't remember the names. They apply light pressure on the chest.

We kept our first born swaddled until like almost 6 months 😂 I tried every week or so until his startle reflex calmed down. His was so bad he’d literally wake up from his arm flailing every 30 seconds. But eventually it calmed down and I just put him in a regular old sleep sack. 
I plan on doing that this time around as well! Will probably start trying arouns 4 mo or so

We started 2 nights ago to swaddle with one arm out and then will go to both arms out for the transition. She was breaking free even though we were using the Ollie swaddle and making it so tight. She also is rolling over during tummy time. She is 2 months today

So we are starting now. He breaks loose and fights swaddles and swaddle sacks. So we are trying the love to dream 50/50 transition swaddle. So far I would say it's working ok. We have only been using it for a week so he hasn't quite figured it out, but k read somewhere it can take up to two weeks to get the hang of a change like this. With all that being said I am not getting less sleep than before but I am also not getting more. I would love to just go with nothing but he does still have his startle reflex just not as bad as it was.
