Are any of you familiar with or from these areas that can recommend a great way to research midwives in town? It's so easy to google and find a list of names, but I'd love to save a lot of foot work and really look into a midwife's profile before taking the time and energy to meet with several of them. I know meeting with many people is apart of the process, but I'd love to know your tips and suggestions if you've been in this situations before me. I'd love for you to impart your wisdom :)

I am looking into a more holistic approach to a hospital birth. I like the idea of being in a hospital but having a midwife there to make sure no unnecessary actions are taken (preventable c-sections, etc). I'm just looking for someone who knows what they're doing, who has great bed-side, comforting manners, who can keep a watchful eye on those doctors with unnecessary hospital procedures. And before you ask, yes, I'm too intimidated for a home birth.
