Is being vegetarian a sin??

One of my friends is a conservative Christian. I’m a Christian, but I wouldn’t consider myself conservative. Well tbh I wouldn’t call her ‘christian’ because she has these crazy ideas, saying how it’s okay to be mean to people who are gay, because they’re sinning. It doesn’t take much to know that it’s a sin to be mean to people.

ANYWAYS, I’m rambling. I really am considering going vegetarian, and she told me it’s sinful. When I asked her why, she told me it’s because god put these animals on the planet to eat, and if I don’t, I’m sinning. I wanted to know what y’all think, I really don’t think so but some of her friends backed her up on it.
