What happens at the first ob appointment?

Trying to decide if husband should come.  Will be 6 weeks at the time.  Any help/comments appreciated!

Usually an ultrasound, at least that's what I had done so I would want my husband to come, if he could!

Usually just a discussion and cervical scan (like a pap smear) and pre natal vitamins and heart beat .

I just called to schedule my first appointment Monday. They scheduled it for the 11/24 but explained what they will do in detail and the cost as well since I have a High Decutable insurance plan. Since they wait till 8 weeks at this office, the first visit will encompass a sonogram, blood work, getting to know the doctor and because at my OB's office all doctors are on call, they will do a meet and greet and let me check out the facility.

Not all places are like that however. I called another OB office to compare (because I want this to be as smooth as possible and have it handled the way I would like to) and they were horrible. They scheduled a visit for 11/12 but didn't explain anything. I had to call back and ask and they stated its just to get to know my doctor and maybe blood work. They would schedule a sonogram when it's available. I wasn't too happy with that at all. Needless to say, I'' sticking with the first appointment.

We have just office chat at first appointment then scan at 12weeks x

My first pregnancy we had an office visit with the intake nurse and she gave us contact numbers and advice about how to be healthy during pregnancy. Then the second apt a few days later was the ultrasound.

I have been wondering the same thing. Everyone I have talked to said that my husband won't want to miss any of the appointments, so he's going. They are planning on doing an ultra sound.
