How to make a super special bday for daughter?

My step daughter is turning 12 April 15th. Last year on her birthday we got in a huge custody battle with her mom. She was supposed to be returning there that day and a situation happened that led us to getting custody, so we spent the day at lawyer offices and her mom never celebrated. This year we planned a HUGE party for April 10th. Sadly that’s been cancelled. 😭 I have stuff to make cupcakes at home. I’m not sure what else to do. Should I still get decorations? She didn’t even want a gift this year she wanted to get our nails done together and have a girls day. Thinking of getting stuff to do that at home. I want to make an amazon order ASAP before it starts taking even longer for things to ship.

Get stuff to do her nails at home. They make cute little spa kits and get her fave color polish. Put a balloon wall up at her door so when she opens it in the morning the balloons fall in on her. Decorate at night while she's sleeping so she wakes up with a surprise.

Yes!! Nails at home and I have ordered some decorations off of oriental trading company for a couple of birthday parties now and they’re pretty budget friendly but cute! You could try them. My sisters birthday was yesterday and we had a nice big party planned so we had to just improvise as well. It turned out great and meant a lot to her that we still tried to make the most of it even though these are dark times. I’m sure even though it will be different than originally planned your daughter will remember the effort you put into still wanting to make it a good day. ❤️

Could you do a video party on zoom or houseparty with family and friends for 15-30 min?? Still decorate and make cupcakes and even open any presents?

Spa day at home for sure, dunno if she’s interested in make up but maybe it’ll be a pick me up if you allow her to begin using it on her bday. Not extreme, clear mascara, tinted chapstick ect.. maybe some neutral eyeshadows watch a few YouTube videos on makeup. order her favorite carry out for dinner or cook her steak maybe a backyard cook out, just the family?? Order a piñata and do a ballon wall for sure!  And if it’s nice out maybe take the extra balloons for a water ballon fight...has she ever gotten to throw a water ballon at her parents? 🤨I remember one year I had the flu on my birthday and we cancelled our plans for sixflags with my friends a few days before. My dad bless his heart moved the tv into the backyard and we did a movie night under the stars, with blankets n popcorn, only parents and siblings but it was super special.
