If you post a before and after fitness transformation is it rude for someone to say they prefer you before?

Even if it’s in a “nice way”.
“I prefer you before but as long as you’re happy”.

I think it’s an unnecessary opinion. Like if someone asked which body type they’d prefer that’s fine but if they just posted them side by side it’s rude to insert your opinion when you’re not even asked. Most likely the person isn’t asking which they’d rather. They are just showcasing their transformation.

This is a bit of a call out post since that comment was made yesterday by another community member. Losing weight doesn’t automatically mean someone is healthier or more attractive. People like different body shapes and muscle tones.

No it isn't personally I rather be told that and hear everyone's opinion my aunt lost a lot of weight but let me tell you it made her look like a tweaker not being rude but I had people ask if she was tweaking

I take it is a compliment. At a time that I felt nasty and insecure, they still found me beautiful. I love imperfection, I love curves and bodies that aren’t like others.. I usually keep my mouth shut when people post their “new” bodies because I tend to like their before pictures too. 😬 all that hard work isn’t for me.. it’s for them so I’ll compliment their achievements..

Its a weird one tbh 
I’ve noticed that sometimes though when people go on a whole fitness/weightloss mission they do have a change in their personalities and what they post online. 
For example I have a friend who ive known since I was 5. She struggled with her weight growing up, while she wasn’t the biggest in our friends group she wasn’t happy. She tried many things. She joined a gym start of 2018 and shortly after she won a free 3 months personal training course, which included a food plan. Since then she has gone from a size 20 to a size 10 in the past 2 years and she’s such a different person now, she used to be so carefree and funny, she was the life and soul of the party. On socials shes gone from posting daily jokes and silly cat videos to posting maps of where and how far she ran (5.6km this morning btw),pics of salads and videos of her doing speeded up workouts. Right now she is so strict with her diet and her fitness regime she can’t seem to rest and relax and enjoy a night in or out with her friends. Counting calories in her drinks on nights out. Shes gone from buying and necking rounds of shots and staying out later than anyone else to having 2 vodka/gin and tonics then calling it a night. 
Im proud shes lost the weight, she truly looks amazing but I do miss the fun times we had together. Shes so worried about gaining weight the again she can’t seem to let herself go once in a while.
