Ectopic pregnancy

Hello Glow Member's...

Need your help...

I had my last period on 19th feb which I conceived naturally. To confirm my pregnancy doctor performed Hcg test on 23rd mar it came out to be 452 and again to check that my hcg levels are doubling they again had my Hcg on 25th mar- 641 ...since my hcg is not doubling every 48hrs they again had blood test and ultrasound on 27th mar- 948 and in ultrasound they are not able to find any gestational sac due to this reason again they had bloodwork done on 29th mar- 1136...so according to hcg level my doctor told me that's the sign of nonviable pregnancy and it can be ended up into ectopic pregnancy...so they have suggested to take METHOTREXATE to abort pregnancy...please share your suggestions on this and if anyone had experience with this injectable medicine and anyone face any complications while trying to conceive after taking this injectable medicine And I don't have any pain or uncomfortablity till now or some one had similar experience with slow rising hcg levels and what did you end up doing.

I’ll try and make this short as possible, had an ectopic the beginning of March 2020 I was 7 weeks I had no pain no symthoms nothing only had slight spotting here and there. Since my first ob appointment was a week away I decided to go into the urgent care and exaggerated alittle bit so they would t turn me away. They did the ultrasound and said my baby was in my right tube and the doctor said I would have to go in surgery immediately to remove my baby I denied surgery and went with the methotrexate shot but doctor was sure it would t work for me this was on a Friday they gave me 2 shots and went home come Sunday the on call doctor kept callinb me trying to convince me that I should go ahead with surgery so finally I agreed had my baby and right tube removed I decided to do it because my hcg levels were so high 10,000 I figured it probably wouldnt work for me . This happens March 8 I bleed about a week later but I’m sure it wasn’t a cycle yet so currently waiting on my first cycle to start up again as far as symthoms I didn’t have any symthoms with the shot

I found out I was pregnant last October and shortly after started spotting. It was too early to see anything on an ultrasound so they did bloodwork. My HCG would go down then rise but never doubled. It was not a viable pregnancy. To confirm it was ectopic they cleaned out my uterus and sent tissue in for testing. It came back negative for pregnancy and they immediately sent me in to get a shot of methotrexate to dissolve the ectopic. Since mine was caught early enough I was able to keep both of my tubes. If you get methotrexate you have to wait a minimum of 3 months before trying again because it will deplete all of your follate stores. It was scary to be told they would have to clean out my uterus and give me the shot, but the nurse sat down with me and explained that the pregnancy was absolutely not viable and needed to be immediately taken care of. I’m now 11w 3d pregnant with a healthy baby.

I’m sorry 😐. At least it was caught early. Drink plenty of green tea! It’s said to be a folic acid inhibitor. Idk if it actually helps but I drank it and I didn’t need anymore shots.

Please dont wait too long. I was in the same situation. The first one I lost, I didnt know what was going on because my HCG wasnt doubling. The highest it ever got to was 240 and I was 6-7 wks. No sac or anything in the uterus. I started having internal bleeding and ended up having to get my rt tube removed. The 2nd ectopic I had, I was told I could get the shit because I was 6wks and it wasnt going to help. The pregnancy was removed but the tube was saved. I'm wishing you the best of luck. Please dont wait too long. It's already so hard for me to conceive with 1 tube.

The only symptoms I had with the first one was sharp pains on my right shoulders, and right side of my neck. The 2nd one, I had painful bloating that I couldnt walk, sit or get up.

Did you have any symptoms other than the HCG not doubling? I’m 5 weeks and keep getting a sharp pain on the right side especially the more I’m up and moving around. They only tested my HcG once. It went from 33 (at like 3 weeks 4 days) and then 111 2 days later.

If you’re not sure, you can wait a few more days and ask for an ultrasound. But if they can’t find a sac by 6 weeks, it’s not viable. I’m so sorry for you having to go through this. At my 7 week scan after doing Ivf, we discovered my pregnancy wasn’t viable and it was devastating. It sucks (as an understatement).

I’m sorry to hear. I found out I was pregnant the end of June 2019. Urine and blood test at my primary confirmed. The OB wanted me to gm to their office to confirm as well and that was the day after my primary. My hcg level didn’t increase by much but they weren’t overly concerned since it was only 24 hours. However, when I went back another day it was higher but not doubled. After a couple days my hcg level had decreased so it was determined that I was miscarrying. I coincidentally had my physical a week later and asked to include an hcg test to make sure the miscarriage was over. But my hcg levels were back up. After two weeks of tracking they kept going up and down. Two ultrasounds later there was nothing to be seen but the rising and falling hcg level can indicate an ectopic. The doctor decided it was an ectopic that wasn’t fully dissolved so she recommended the methotrexate. After the second ultrasound (which was a month after my initial positive so if I was indeed viably pregnant a sac should have been see ) I agreed to the methotrexate. It was fine. I don’t remember any major side effects. My butt was sore for about a day and I had some diarrhea. I think I didn’t have much appetite but I’m not sure if that was really related to the methotrexate or being upset. I only needed one injection luckily. I got the injection on Friday and went back to work on Monday because I teach summer school and wouldn’t get paid if I wasn’t there. I hope this helps answer some questions. Let me know if you have any more. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. 💙

Yes the doctor said to wait at least a month. I also had to stop taking my prenatal for a month because of the methotrexate. I forgot to add that I did have bleeding during the ectopic and a little bit more with the methotrexate. My husband and I started trying again in September. We became pregnant again the very end of December and I am now in my second trimester. My doctor told me that sometimes women can be more fertile after a miscarriage but that it’s important to wait for the methotrexate to fully be out of your system and to be mentally ready to try again.
