How are you washing baby's newborn clothes?

Question

We hand washed all of my first son's clothes the first couple of months then started using the machine. (The same detergent was used for both.)
I'm debating using the machine with delicates setting from the beginning this time around. Any reasons I shouldn't?

If it’s “hand wash” or “dry clean” only I don’t  buy it. 😆 were not that type of house

They are literally just smaller versions of clothes...there's no reason they can't go in the washer on a regular cycle.

Why would you hand wash them?

I bought a portable washing machine - the kind you buy for caravans or student accommodation. It was just under £49. 
We not only wash our clothes in the normal washer/dryer, but the pet beds, so I’ll be using the portable just for my son’s things when he’s here. You also fill it yourself with the required amount of water so it should be cheaper than running a whole conventional washing machine cycle for little baby clothes. It does spin dry too but doesn’t heat. 
Almost identical to this one but the plate where the dials are on mine is white and so is the lid.

We rent our house so we have to use the washer/ dryer provided and aren’t allowed to plumb anything else in - this doesn’t need to be plumbed in either 👍🏻

Machine washing the ones that won’t fade or color run into the others, those that do I will be hand washing

If you are worried about it don’t dry them. The dryer is way more damaging than machine washing on gentle.

I’m buying mesh washer bags to put the clothes on and machine washing them.

UK here and on my washer there is a option specifically called "baby wash" for baby clothes, never had no problems with my first child so will be using that for my 2nd too
