How long after inducing labor does active labor begin? I’m a FTM and I’m getting induced sometime between the next seven days due to Cholestasis . Please tell me your experiences and recommendations for inducing labor.

I was induced and they started with cervidil to soften my cervix. It worked and within an hour and 45 mins, my water broke and labor started. I didn’t need pitocin. Water broke 10:45am and my daughter was born 9:18pm the same day. Contractions sucked as they went from 0-100 rather quickly and were happening every 30 seconds that I could barely open my eyes for the first hour or so.

I have been induced twice now due to cholestais and will be getting induced again in a week due to cholestasis for the third time. The first time they inserted a foley balloon because I was not dilated at all and then started the Pitocin. labor was 17 hours from the start of the induction process to the end. With my second pregnancy I was already 4 cm when I arrived at the hospital so they just immediately started me on Pitocin. Labor was only 5 hours from start to finish. I’m hoping this labor goes that quickly again.

They started me on pitocen at 3pm and had to stop me 2 hours later because they had an emergency csection with another patient. (I have a history of raped labor so they wanted to be safe than sorry) Started it again around 6-7pm and went in active labor rather quickly and he was born at 12:05am.

I was induced with my first and from the time they started the pitocin to the time he was born was about 9 hours. It all depends on what they use and how much they use and if baby is actually ready. Every labor is different.

My friend was just induced at 40 weeks+4. She was 2 cm and had a Foley catheter placed, pitocin started around 7pm, foley cath places again a few hours later and had baby by 1245 am. This was her second child, I doubt it’s common for it to happen so quickly.

I was induced with my second. Admitted at 4pm and did cervadil overnight. Next day started pitocin. Had my water broke. Stuck at 4cm for hours so they kept cranking it up. 8pm I was ten cm so 28 hrs since admitted. Push for 25 minutes and he was out. Long process for me and hours of huge peanut ball between thighs but my son was 10lb 1oz so 😆
