Baby led weaning?

Question

Anyone else doing baby led weaning? Anyone else terrified to start baby led weaning??
Baby is almost 7 months and we’ve been doing mostly purées, but I feel like I’m holding him back. He’s ready for more but I’m so scared of him choking 😭. 
Where did you start? How do you let go of the fear of choking and let them do what they do? HOW do you not completely overreact when they gag? He gagged once on a pancake like 2 weeks ago and I swore off all non-purées after that and I have got to get this anxiety under control 😭

We have been doing baby led weaning for about a month now. I still get nervous about choking, but the risk of choking is going to be the same now as it will in a year from now. It’s a learning process. Just start slow and see how your LO handles it.
I started off with really soft foods like banana, avocado, steamed sweet potato, carrots and broccoli. Then we did cheese and hard boiled eggs. Then I did pancakes and toast. Last night we tried shredded chicken. Tonight we are going to try salmon.
Also, I googled some videos that show what gagging looks like and it’s made me feel better. I’d recommend that if you have t already watched some.

There is a Instagram page called babyledweaning or something like that. Lots of good info and videos of gagging so you get used to it. Just remember choking is SILENT. Gagging is noises and coughing etc. It's rough to watch but they gotta figure it out! Start with really soft stuff like avacados or mushy noodles! Baby will be a pro in no time!

Babyledweanteam is a great Instagram to follow for food ideas and gagging videos. 
We started 6 weeks ago with soft finger sized foods and now she pretty much eats whatever we do. This is from dinner last night. She had tacos with us plus green beans and strawberries.

And avocado toast and eggs for breakfast.

We are doing BLW and absolutely love it. I was very nervous, still sometimes am. But we only have baby eat when my husband and i are both present, as my husband is soo much more level headed and calm than I am. And after a couple times of seeing him gag and successfully get the food back out and him keep on trucking through, I feel so much better! You can do it!

If you already started with purée and want to switch to blw I believe there is a specific protocol they recommend for that. I would look it up before changing over.

Just work him up through the stages, once he reaches stage-3 purees just slowly work into BLW with soft foods that you're comfortable with.
