Baby born at 35 weeks???

On bed rest until 35 weeks, because my doctor said that if baby came at 35 weeks "it wouldn't be a big deal". I'm curious about this because wouldn't she need NICU time? Wouldn't she have issues/not be heavy enough? Worried 😅

Not necessarily she could be just big enough to go home (5.5lbs) and could be breaking and eating on her own by the time you get released. At 35 weeks the longest she'll have to stay is about 1-2 weeks but only if she not big enough or has problems eating and breathing.

Every baby is different so you can't go by someone else's experience... My son was born at 36 and they thought he'd be good to go but came out and was breathing fast so sent him to nicu 2 hrs away and I had stay in hospital since I had a horrible csection. Got his breathing under control and then he had issues waking himself to eat and keeping feeds down so we had to stay longer. We were there 7 days. Everyone is different but hopefully your baby stays in long as possible and everything goes well. Good luck

I was born 33 years ago at 27 weeks, and I turned out fine...so try not to stress too much if baby comes early, it will be OK...

My second son wad born at 36 weeks (cSection for medical reasons) and he was perfectly fine... No NICU at all... He was 5lbs 1oz... and when we were able to go home 3 days after (standard for cSection) he was 4lbs10oz... Sooooo Little but super healthy! Then and now he's 2 brother is 6... Good Luck

My daughter was born at exactly 37 weeks and didn’t need nicu time. She’s perfectly healthy too. Only had a cold so far. Each child is different. One might need nicu time one might not need nicu time.

My boy came at 36 weeks was in incubator for all of 5 mins before he decided that wasn't happening hopefully you can make it a lil longer

Both hospitals here have a policy where any baby born before 36w must stay in the NICU until they reach 36W gestation regardless of whether they medically need it or not. They say it's because of the high risk of infections etc.

I wouldn't want my baby born at 35 weeks. My first was born at exactly 37 weeks and he was in the NICU for a week. My second was born 38+ and he was good to go. Success rate of children born at 35 weeks is high which is likely why your OB is unconcerned. With my first my dr just told me "hold him in until 32 weeks so he still has a shot at Harvard." I wouldn't want to do it, but if baby came that early and HAD to, I think you'd be ok. Personally I would try and keep that little nugget in there for a few extra weeks
