What is first week home like?

After you bring your newborn home? What are things like with schedule, with your SO, with your emotions?

I cried all the time. We had no real schedule except to survive, haha. Breastfeeding was awful (very painful latch for weeks) and our daughter would wake every 1.5-2 hours at night to feed. I was so overwhelmed and recovering from my c-section. The first 4 weeks were the most challenging weeks in my life. If you have support from your family available, take it! My mom, in laws and sister were a godsend.

Honestly it can suck. My hormones were super out of whack and I was sweating and couldn't sleep at all and wasn't thinking clearly. The baby won't be on any kind of schedule and you have to feed every few hours. It's CAN be really bad, however if you are really healthy physically it might not be so bad for you. I was unprepared for what I experienced so my advice is to prepare for the worst and if it's great, wonderful and if it's not you can be ready! Prepare meals ahead of time, try and have someone who can come watch the baby so you can sleep, etc.

Currently 5 days PP and since we've been home it's been okay. The first night was terrible. But I'd say we're getting the hang of things - but I have cried ALOT. He refused to latch which was super stressful on us both - I now pump and feed with bottles, seems to be working GREAT for us :) He's pretty much around the clock every 2-3 hours needs a diaper, to eat from bottle & for me to pump. Then usually falls back asleep instantly until the next time. Personally for me the hardest part about this first week is my inability to really move on my own. I had 30-40 stitches (severe labia tear) which has left me swollen like crazy and sore. Very painful to move at all. If I wasn't in so much pain I think I'd be totally content with how our first week is going

I'm wondering this as well. I can't imagine it being THAT bad but of course I'm a FTM and don't know anything other what I've been through thus far 😅 can't wait for my little girl to be here but I'm going to miss my sleep and sanity.

I agree with the ladies below, I cried everyday for almost 2 weeks - your hormones are literally INSANE after you have the baby. I'm a FTM and was not expecting to feel like I did, it's just overwhelming and exciting and scary. I'm so grateful I had a husband who was so supportive and even my mom came and helped so I could sleep a night or two. Seeing your baby is absolutely amazing but don't forget to take care of yourself and don't ever feel guilty for doing that either ☝🏻️ I worked with our baby girl on week 2 to get on a schedule for sleep.. feed ALL DAY it's hard but so with it.. if you like to sleep at night that is 😊

It can be challenging at times. But as hard as it may be, it will get better. It's all a learning experience. :)
