boyfriend’s opinion on birth control

my boyfriend asked if i could not take bc after i suggested on starting. i asked him why and he said he knows about the side effects of bc and how they affect some womens mental health. hes scared because he already knows about my awkward mental health already and he said he’d rather not have sex at all than for me to damage my body. im definitely gonna start taking it anyways but, how do i make him more comfortable about it and not hurt his feelings?
