Wish me luck ladies!!!

COVID19 hit our company HARD. We've had to let go almost all our staff in order to try make it through the lockdown and rebuild. It's just me, one technician, one back office support and my boss.

My boss has asked me to assist with quotes AND accounts, along with my normal duties (I am a project manager) AT NO PAY for the next TWO months (if there's money I'll get paid, but if there's not I don't).

I was kept because I am the only one who can perform multiple duties within the organisation. Our national operations manager was let go, our accounts manager was let go, our client manager was let go... And I'm now doing all these duties.

I agreed because I have the means to work with no salary for a month (two months is a stretch) and I value my job security more than money, but it doesn't mean it's going to be an easy two months!

Wish me luck!!!

On a side note, what would you expect from your company after a situation like this? A raise, time off, a promotion, etc?

@eyeroll good idea. I'll get my boss to get a formal contract drawn up for this.

@Emily, things are a stuff up in my country at the moment. Unemployment has received 39k requests specifically related to COVID19 (over and above their usual amount) and of this, they've processed less than 200. They're processing an average of 5 a day.

@Briabella, yes I have said that once the company is back to normal, I will be expecting my salary for these two months. I'm not in the US. The technician is getting paid per hour of work done, on a contractor basis only. He has a young baby and his wife is on unpaid maternity so he has to get some kind of income. The other lady is getting her full salary as she is the breadwinner as is looking after her family as well as someone else's young kids.

I agreed to this as I have six months salary saved up, but I told my boss I have two at most. My husband also works for a huge, international corporation and they are looking after their employees very well during this time.
