I’m genuinely curious why everyone in the US is using Sweden as the epitome for opening the economy back up? (Most of the articles I’ve seen shared as “evidence” are from mid March).

I understand that Sweden has left some things open with strict social distancing rules (and seems for the most part people are actually following them, something I’m skeptical about the US actually being able to comply with).

Sweden has fewer total cases per 100,000 people but higher deaths. India has even fewer cases AND deaths per 100,000 people and has intense far harsher restrictions than the US.

Not arguing whether or not the economy should open back up. Just wondering why people are using Sweden as a specific example when other countries have more restrictions and lower cases than Sweden.
