Piggy backing off another CC post

It was in regards to putting cameras in your child’s bedroom (not including baby monitors). 90% said hard no, thank goodness. But what I don’t understand is if it’s not okay to invade their privacy, why is it so normalized (at least in my culture) to take doors off of kids’ doors as punishment? That’s still taking away their right to privacy. Or going through a child’s phone? My question I guess is where do we draw that line?

ETA: man reading these comments really just emphasizes the shit my family normalized :( They went through my phone regularly and took my door off as punishment. Glad to know we’re out here doing better
