Medium rare steak?

My ob doesn't tell me anything. I have been told that it is okay to eat medium rare steak as long as it isn't often. Has anyone talked to their ob about this? We are going to a steakhouse tonight and I would really like to enjoy a steak lol. Thanks ladies.

As long as the meat is cooked to 165 degrees you're fine because all the bacteria should be dead. Which med rare it's almost guaranteed to be.  Careful that it doesn't come out too much on the rare side though. 
I always tell them between med rare and medium. That way it still has some red in it But is cooked enough to kill bacteria!

I ate rare or med rare steak thru three pregnancies...never had any issues! Never had a dr warn against it either, for that matter. Go for it!

Thank you for the advice guys. I ended up going with medium and it serves it's purpose. I'm just 8 weeks so I'm trying to play by the books as best I can. Lol.

I've been eating my steaks pink. Steak meat has less risk of getting bacteria because it doesn't go through a grinder, it's cut. I think it's totally fine.

I OB said meat with no pink in the middle. So at least medium well. I hate well done steak. 😞

They say no because the increased risk of getting sick from undercooked meat. It's your call though I've had a view medium to medium well steaks while pregnant no problems. Idk how far along you are but in my first trimester I went to eat a steak I thought I wanted and the smell made me so sick.

I've only been told no, simply because they don't want you getting sick. 
But I don't eat my steak that way anyways.

However I have been a rebel a few times, eating deli sandwiches and an occasional tuna sandwich. I'm due in 1 1/2 weeks, and everything is perfectly fine. I also believe in listening to your body. Maybe your body is craving the meat for some reason, and why deprive it?

It's really your judgement call if your doctor gives you the green light. I am concerned about getting sick from food, so I just get my meat really well done. It sucks because I am a fan on medium rare but I rather be safe than sorry
