Dairy allergy? Formula while I quit dairy?

Question

I think my son has a milk allergy... he seems colicky, wants to eat constantly (he up to like 30+ ounces a day), spits up a lot, etc. Thoughts? 
I’m looking at going dairy free so my milk does not upset his tummy, but I’m thinking of getting some formula that is dairy free now to see if there is some relief for him quicker (and then I will continue to quit). Any suggestions? Target brand? Gerber? Similac?

My daughter was like that. She was originally on similar pro sensitive since she was born and her pediatrician switched to enfamil gentlease because she seemed to have silent reflux but her pediatrician said before switching to medication it might just be a dairy thing so she switched formulas and bam within a week she was a new baby!

I think if you cut out all dairy at one time it would be no need for formula at all. If you felt like you really needed to do formula I would get an organic one. holle baby formula is the only one I’d even consider buying for my ebf baby. ￼￼￼(I’ve ebf 7 babies of that matters)

I think my baby has the same thing. I’ve cut out dairy for 2 days so far. His poop has been green with mucus. What about yours?

Allimentum would be the formula to use. My first had multiple food protein intolerance and I continued ebf while I did the total elimination diet. It takes a few weeks for the dairy (and whatever else you eliminate) to get out if your system but you should see a difference in just a few days. Unless symptoms are severe you could just nurse through it. I wouldn’t replace too many feedings with formula this early on.

I quit eating dairy and it took about a week for me to notice a change in the baby. But is a night and day difference so completely worth it to not see him in so much pain anymore.

It will take a while for the dairy to completely leave yours and your baby’s systems, but if you want to give your LO’s tummy a break for a few days while you’re eliminating it, you can try Alimentum or Nutramigen. They do still contain milk protein but it’s so broken down that the body shouldn’t be able to recognize it and it shouldn’t cause a reaction. That’s only if your baby isn’t super sensitive

It can take quite a while for it to leave their system as well so don't expect immediate results either way.  I had to quit dairy with my first and I kept breastfeeding the whole time.
